Arctic Telemedicine Project

In 1999-2000 NST participated in a project initiated and funded by the Arctic Council, regarding use of telemedicine in the arctic region.

The project was coordinated by Carl Hild, Anchorage, Alaska. Project partners came from the member countries and indigenous people of the Arctic.

The final report was presented to the Arctic Council in September 2000. In additon to a short description from each country, the group made some recommendations for telemedicine in the Arctic. The project group had scheduled a follow-up meeting in Anchorage, Alaska in September 2001 focusing on assessment of telemedicine in the Arctic regions. Due to the tragedy 11 September, the meeting was cancelled.
