Nordic Telemedicine Network

Networking project aiming to provide an overview of telemedicine activity in the Nordic countries.

The aim of the project was to to provide an overview of telemedicine activity in the Nordic countries.

The purpose was

  • To establish a research and educational network within the Nordic countries so that they will become more efficient and gain enhanced synergy by deploying new ways of co-operation using the Internet and new electronic possibilities.
  • To establish Nordic medical expertise-specific networks for quality assurance purposes (such as "second opinion" and "methodology calibration"), for direct exchange of operational services, and for research co-operation.

The project has

  • Established an information base of descriptions of telemedicine project and services from the nordic countries.
  • Made detailed project plans for a Nordic PET-Network and Virtual Endoscopic surgery.
